College football has become one of the pillars of college sports. Universities take pride in their football stadiums as a means to show their school spirit and demonstrate a strong culture through supporting their teams. To recognize these incredible stadiums, we have created an Honorarium Top 10 list of the best college football stadiums in the US. 10. Albertsons Stadium - Boise St

Albertsons Stadium, home to the Boise State Broncos football team. Officially named the “Lyle Smith field”, this stadium has a capacity of 36,387. Albertsons stadium is famous for their blue turf and is a highly sought after tourist attraction. Athletic director Gene Bleymaeir came up with the idea and the blue turf was installed in 1986. This stadium was the first non-green artificial field in the United States.

9. Autzen Stadium - Oregon

Autzen Stadium may not be one of the biggest stadiums, but it is definitely one of the most well-known. Oregon football is one of those programs that everybody just expects to compete year in and year out. Programs like these tend to have great stadiums, and Oregon is a prime example. Although it holds 54,000 people, it gets incredibly loud during Oregon football games.

8. Notre Dame Stadium - Notre Dame

The home of the Fighting Irish is one of the most well-known stadiums in all of college sports. Holding 77,622 fans, Notre Dame Stadium sells out for almost every single football game they host. In 2014, the University revealed their $400 million plans for the stadium, adding 3 nine story buildings on the east, west, and south sides of the stadium to directly connect, as well as a brand new 96 by 54 foot video board. On top of being home to 11 national titles and 7 Heisman trophy winners, the stadium is known for its unique brick exterior and iconic “Touchdown Jesus” mural.

7. Memorial Stadium - Clemson

Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is some peoples favorite college football stadium, and we don’t blame them. It holds one of the most iconic traditions in college football, which is how the players run down the hill under the scoreboard and get welcomed onto the field. It holds 81,500 people, and every single one of them gives a standing ovation when the Clemson Tigers run down that hill and take the field.

6. Bryant-Denny Stadium - Alabama

Bryant-Denny stadium is home to the Alabama Crimson Tide, the pinnacle of college football. This stadium can hold up to 101,821 people screaming “Roll Tide!” The 18 time national championship school has 4 video scoreboards in their stadium and added $107 million in renovations in 2018. This included new larger video boards, new elevators, redesigning of Alabama’s locker room, expanding the recruiting room, and moving the press box to add 10 new luxury suites.

5. Michigan Stadium - Michigan

Michigan stadium, also known as “The Big House”  is coined this name for a reason. Being the largest stadium in the US and third largest stadium in the world, this venue can hold up to 107,601 people. This one of a kind venue is used for the wolverines football team and women’s lacrosse team. Michigan has spent more than $226 million dollars in upgrades to the stadiums such as luxury boxes and state of the art LED scoreboards that are 62 feet tall and 108 feet wide.

4. Ohio Stadium - Ohio State

Ohio Stadium is the home of the Ohio State Buckeyes and can seat up to 104,944 fans. Its iconic horseshoe shape and the big red “O” at midfield are some of the features fans love most. Although Ohio State is known for its prestigious football program, they also use Ohio Stadium for concerts and other events. It truly is a multi-purpose stadium which is why fans enjoy it so much and continue to fill the seats for every game or event.

3. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium - University of Florida

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, aka “The Swamp”, is one of the  most prestigious stadiums in all of college football. It can hold up to 88,548 people. The Florida Gators are known for winning football games in the Swamp, and the combination of the heat and the crowd definitely plays a factor. The Gators look to spring into the upper echelon of college football once again under new head coach Billy Napier.

2. Tiger Stadium - LSU

The home of the Louisiana State Tigers is Tiger stadium. With a capacity of 102,321 it is no wonder the stadium has been nicknamed “Death Valley”. This venue serves solely as a stadium located on the old LSU campus in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. LSU begins every game with announcer Dan Borne saying, “It's Saturday Night in Death Valley...and here come your Fighting Tigers of LSU,” to bring the stadium to life.

1. Beaver Stadium - Penn State

Coming in first place is the electric Beaver Stadium at Penn State University with a capacity of 106,572. Beaver Stadium is notorious for being an extremely difficult environment for opposing teams to play in due to the enthusiasm and energy of the crowd. In the 2022 season, Penn State has created a new feature of tailgate cabanas along the pregame parade route. Because Beaver stadium is arguably the best college football stadium, it is used strictly for football and has only hosted one concert in 2017, for a Penn State music festival.

Honorable Mention: Michie Stadium - Army

Michie stadium holds up to 38,000 people and is located at the upper portion of the campus on top of the Lusk Reservoir. The stadium will celebrate 100 years of existence in 2023 and serves as the centerpiece of the sportsplex at the Army campus. Over the past century, the school has added state of the art locker rooms, high tech coaches offices, training facilities, and equipment.
